CONCEPT
POWERS
floral symbiosis;floral symbiosis grants dior the ability to gain powers through hosting any live flowering organism in her body. the organisms can live inside of her and be called to use according to her need. this could be in the form of vines to extend her reach, thorns appearing on her skin to pack harsher punches and even administer mild poisons if she happens to be hosting a toxic flower. the plants inside her feed off her nutrients and will not hesitate to drain her if she doesn't adequately sustain herself. in the case that she runs out of resources, the plants hosted in her body may take over to sustain themselves. on a few rare occasions, while hosting multiple flowering plants, dior has experienced what she suspects to be photosynthesis.
flower generation;
dior has the ability to generate blooms at will. she can generate as many flowers as she has the energy for, if she is currently hosting the desired plant. even when she is not hosting a specific plant, she can generate up to three blooms of any flower, as long as she has hosted the plant in the past. generating flowers from plants she is not currently hosting takes a lot of energy and dior does not choose to do this often.
plant manipulation;
plant manipulation is a subset of floral symbiosis for dior. while she can only host flowering plants, she can ask other plants to perform certain actions, such as: grow, regenerate, bloom, wilt, etc. whether or not it works is up to the plant, though she has better control over flowering plants than non-flowering plants. she also has a longer range of communication when it comes to flowering plants vs. non-flowering plants.

dior comes off confident and cold, keeping people at an arm's length and snapping at anyone who tries to come close. those who've had the misfortune of being drawn into her orbit know that she feels every emotion deeply and chaotically. she's deeply loyal to those who stick around and would rather fail on her own than succeed with unsolicited help. though if you do find yourself on her bad side, you might be able to sway her with sweets.

HISTORY
dior was born a single child to two parents with large families on either coast of the country. as a compromise, they settled squarely in the middle of the country: omaha, nebraska. dior's early childhood was uneventful, not in the sense that nothing happened, but quite simply because she slipped through the cracks during the messy end of her parents' relationship. by the time the dust settled after the divorce and subsequent custody battle, dior had gotten used to doing things on her own. she was six, afterall. wasn't that old enough to figure it out on her own?life changed again when the rifts started appearing and her father's powers began to manifest when she was eight. she'd been given the choice to upend her entire life and move to where he mom was, in boston, or to upend her entire life and relocate with her dad to a station in elkhorn. barely a choice at all, but she chose to stay with her dad. he was, afterall, the parent who stuck around.
it was at elkhorn that she met zee, her best friend, her better half. her life instantly split into two distinct segments: before zee and after zee. before zee, she was alone, she was uncontrollable. after zee, she had a touchpoint, a guiding light. it seemed only natural, then, that their powers manifested in tandem. dior's in a dramatic fit of coughs and regurgitated petals, while zee's ever comforting warmth seemed to seep through her skin into a gentle glow.
when it came time again to leave everything behind for the lyndon b, johnson education facility in texas, dior felt okay. with zee by her side, she could handle it. well, handle it better than she would otherwise, anyway. lbjef gave her the opportunity to grow into her own person, but it didn't come without cost. with zee and dior away at school, their parents coped by getting closer and closer. while she didn't like what was happening, she had her own teenage angst to handle.
the news of the engagement did not come as a shock to dior, but that didn't stop her from taking it like a blindsided betrayal. she didn't want a new mom, she didn't want a sister, even if that sister was her best friend. she'd barely had a dad her entire life, she wasn't about to play house with someone she'd only ever known as zee's mom. despite her tantrums and outbursts, the wedding proceeded largely without incident and once again it felt like her world had been torn apart, worst of all, it seemed like her best friend had no objections to the whole thing. with no plans for further education, dior begrudgingly moved in with her new family.
when enodia opened, she was swept along, applying for the exploration division against her father's will. it was spite at first, but over time, she's learned to treasure the little pockets of freedom she gets from working as an explorer.
