I went to Albany today with Wren Chau—do you know her? I stopped at a flower store on the way back up. This is a hyacinth, right? That's what the display said. My bad if not.
I was GOING to ask if you wanted to have a birthday dinner and watch the OC (up to 5 episodes only, I'm too old now), but now I feel like we all need time to quietly process the Liminal mole thing by sitting and staring at a wall for an hour or so.
mhmm i'm gonna hang out with wren, of course. i'm really happy that you two are getting along. i want something noodly and spicy, interpret that however!
6/2, dropped off in front of her apartment during a work break
Hiiii I'm Crysta and I don't really know you yet? I'd super love to change that! What's youuur favorite party trick you can do mine is you know how some ppl can tie a cherry stem knot w their tongue well I can tie two.
It all happened within the last year. We reconnected. Started talking a lot when the Station closed down. Annie had more time and that was [...] when I wasn't saying much to you for a bit. I'm still sorry about that. But talking to Annie helped me a lot. And now I think I'm going to ask her to marry me.
I'm going to ask her to marry me, and if she says yes then I'll be glad. She helped me get through a tough time. The way she sees the world is how I see the world. We want the same things. I trust her.
i just idk. i want you to be happy, jack. so if you're saying that marrying her is going to make you happy then i'll support you, but you haven't said that either
I'm working on it. Apparently engagement rings are pretty serious business. I had no idea. There's a lot to think about. If you bling out too hard then I think the ring becomes a liability? Like it'd catch on sweaters and stuff like that.
mm not well, she offered to show me how she can tie two knots on a cherry stem with her tongue and then i told her i can crush an egg with one hand. but that's pretty much friendship, right?
i will be upset if you only take her and not me though
I mean sometimes friendship can include a little more than cherry stems and crushed eggs, but I think you have the basics.
Oh boy lmfao, now I feel like I should just go by myself. Kidding somewhat. It'll be Albany, are you okay with that? I've already scoped out Ferrisburgh and Colchester, slim pickings.
Aw, I thought there was more to it than that. Teen dramas, for one.
"Nothing too crazy" is all she said. But I think a vintage ring is best, because that decreases a lot of the ethical problems with buying precious gemstones new, and I'm pretty sure she would care about that. And relatively low-profile, so it wouldn't bother her while she's working. [...] Honestly, I was kind of thinking of something in the vein of Galadriel's ring from the LOTR movies because I think she'd get a kick out of that, only toned down.
And here is where you can tell me that that's actually a very stupid idea.
i actually don't think that's a stupid idea at all, it doesn't sound like "nothing too crazy" though. nothing too crazy sounds more like a single set gem situation, but you know her better
vintage sounds nice, or maybe something custom if you can't find your dream elf ring?
"Dream elf ring" is just a guiding principle—I know I won't find anything especially like it if I'm restricting myself to old rings. It just narrows my universe of rings down.
What's also tricky is that Annie dresses well and seems is particular about her appearance. She's fashionable but not trendy? So there's the dream elf ring side of things but also the Annie would kill me if I got her something that looked like costume jewelry side of things.
ding-dong ditched outside Dior's door [5/25, late evening]

Went into town with one of the newbies so I grabbed you some things while I was there!
Bday gift, dropped off after they get back from the caves - 6/2
You are old now. Congrats.
Lou.
dm [6/2, evening]
here's a list of names: lulu, genevieve, markus, charliese, iceman
which one do you hate the least?
dm [6/2, evening]
Whichever one you hate the least. It's yours.
I hope the rest of your birthday is better than the first part.
dm [6/2, evening]
hmmmm what's your top 3, i'm indecisive!
honestly, my birthday's usually pretty cursed. i'm not holding my breath, but thank you.
dm [6/2, evening]
Okay, fine. I like Lulu, Genevieve, and Iceman.
Fingers crossed for no more moles.
dm [6/2, evening]
hmmm lulu it is, but we'll have to get her an iceman friend at some point soon
no! more! moles! how are you, are you doing good? like... in general?
dm [6/2, evening]
Are you sure she won't eat him?
Yeah, I'm good. I'm not just saying that—giant moles can't touch me.
dm [6/2, evening]
i kinda wanna see you do the dance now
dm [6/2, evening]
Sorry to disappoint, but I have never danced ever in my life.
dm [6/2, evening]
why are you lying to me?
dm [6/2, evening]
Because I don't want you to think about that party last year where I got way too into Lizzo.
dm [6/2, evening]
it's too late, i'm committing it to my memory palace forever. i'm still kinda devastated i don't have a video, we're gonna need a repeat
dm [6/2, evening]
You'll never see it again. Nobody wants that.
dm [6/2, after molpcalypse]
dm [6/2, after molpcalypse]
but mm, are you okay?
dm [6/2, after molpcalypse]
What do you want for your birthday dinner? Or one of them—I'm guessing (hoping) Wren is taking you out, too?
